If you are planning to tour Japan, you are in luck because it is one of the easiest places in the world to find, organize and go on a great tour- from Mt.Fuji to Kyoto. On our last trip to Tokyo, for instance, without any prior planning we were presented with a huge range of tours by our hotel concierge, which only needed to be booked the day before.
As we were pressed for time, we went for one of several “day tours”, which involved a coach ride to the majestic Mt.Fuji, then in picturesque Hakone, a boat ride in a lake, followed by a cable car trip to what promised to be even more great views of Mt.Fuji. We would then return to Tokyo by Shinkansen (bullet train). This cost around $190.00 per person inclusive of lunch.
The tour lasted the entire day, and had an extremely organized set-up, complete with a very competent tour guide (ours climbed Mt.Fuji 3 times and could speak many languages). Yes, it was a somewhat rushed day, but we made friends with some nice Australians and Americans on our coach, went on the perfectly-symmetrical Mount Fuji, enjoyed the lake and views around Hakone, and lastly, marveled at the speed and efficiency of the bullet train. So in all, it is a worthwhile tour, if only to get a taste of things so we could plan for a longer stay next time.

One of the ways to make your vacation become hassle free is to avail yourself of travel insurance. In trips abroad travel insurance makes sure that you have little to worry about since you are covered by an insurance policy. For example, if by an unfortunate incident at the airport and your airline misplaces your bags, travel insurance will provide you with the necessary resources you need to buy clothing and other essentials while your bags are not yet with you.
Travel insurance is also especially important if you contract a disease or need to be hospitalized and receive medical treatment. Paying for medical treatment straight from your pocket is going to be a pain (because regular health insurance does not usually cover trips abroad), but travel insurance also gives you coverage for any form of medical treatment you will need while on vacation.

There are fast changing rules that are being enforced in the many airports around the world yet the most stringent and tough are for flights that head either to the US or to the UK. These two country’s are the most at threat from terrorist attacks thus have the strictest rules when it comes to travel (you wouldn’t want a repeat of 9/11 with you on board now would you). People who would be traveling to these two countries have to get hold of the latest bulletins from the respective countries who may have different security requirements but for the delays and repetitive multi layer security checks they are almost the same.
Do not bring anything that is banned with you as carry-on and leave them with your baggage. Check in baggage also have restrictions as to what you can put in them so when in doubt, leave it behind or risk losing it to the airport security personnel’s trash bin. Any items not allowed will either be confiscated or thrown in the trash which is such a waste of money if you happened to have something pricey. Baggage sizes have also been lowered so check with the local airport on specifics dso you can plan ahead for your worry free vacation.

Traveling to a foreign land, staying in a hotel and seeing the sights as part of a tour group can be boring and downright a waste of money. What better way to explore your country of choice that to do it at your own pace with a personal tour guide to take you places that you might not get to as part of the many groups. Ask around for locals who know the lands and places of interest for they are the best help you can get. Hiring a professional concierge may be a bit too pricey so to save on this, try asking the hotel staff for people who may be able to help you. Some of the best tour guides are the drivers of the places you stay in, who may want some extra cash on their day off. Make arrangements and haggle a bit for the contract price. Remember, this is quite risky for you are not covered by any group and the trip may not be covered by your travel insurance but it might just be worth the risk.

This guide simply advices you, the traveller, of the things that you should best leave at home rather than bring on a trip. And it means, as much of those unnecessary things you usually carry with you when you travel, as possible. But unfortunately, this is the one thing that most of us do not really take into consideration. What we usually do is pick up our back pack the night before, and gather all the things and possessions around you. You then think, this is what i need. You might think you will be needing this particular stuff when you’re away. The only time you realize how heavy and annoying all those “necessary” things you’re carrying is when you’re walking around the place of your destination. The fact is, your back pack usually weighs you down and even gives us all the bad name. Doing away with those extra weight in your back pack ultimately provides you freedom of movement and a different type of freedom. And you’ll quickly realize that sometimes, three shirts and just a pair of jeans and underwear makes the entire traveller’s wardrobe.
